It is not the company name building your new home, remodeling your current home, or developing your future neighborhood. No, it’s the dedicated folks behind the Bickimer name that will earn your trust. Introducing:
Tom and Mary Bickimer, Co-Founders
Tom and Mary Bickimer founded Bickimer Construction, Inc. in 1982. They were determined to build a company based on Integrity, Customer Service, and Quality Construction. For many years Tom ran the company and Mary was the bookkeeper, while raising a family that included six children. They continue to be active in the business and are extensively involved with volunteer work in our community.
Tommy Bickimer, President
Tommy Bickimer attended Colorado State University and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management. After graduating from CSU, Tommy worked for Sundt Construction, an international general contractor based in Phoenix, Arizona. He served as a Quality Control Manager and Project Engineer on their Military Housing projects in Tacoma, Washington and Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 2005 Tommy joined Bickimer Construction. Tommy is responsible for the day to day operations of our company, and your go to person for a quick response and results that exceed your expectations.
Darrin Wright, Operations Manager
Darrin Wright is a Marine Corps veteran who spent 10 years serving at home and oversees. Darrin’s years in the military have honed his organizational and scheduling skills which are so important to a successful project manager. His years as a construction manager and as a subcontractor provide him with a unique perspective and understanding of the construction process. His ability to relate to our subcontractors and suppliers allows him to demand and obtain the highest standards of construction quality.
Brian Patenaude, Sales & Communications Manager
Brian Patenaude attended the University of Maryland where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and captained the baseball team his senior year. Upon graduating, Brian moved to Houston, TX, where he began his career in homebuilding with McGuyer Homebuilders. It was during his time in Houston that Brian met his future wife, Shelley, a farm girl from Marysville, Kansas. In the fall of 2010, Brian and Shelley moved to Kansas City in order to raise their family. In addition to homebuilding, Brian enjoys fitness, sports, and family time at the farm.
Bob Stiner, Field Superintendent
Bob began his construction career with a home building company in the state of Washington. There he found his calling building dream homes for his customers and their families. After several years in Washington, he and his wife, Amy, decided to relocate to Kansas City to raise their family. Bob holds a bachelor’s degree in Project Management from Bellevue University, Nebraska. He and Amy have two children and enjoy weekends at The Lake of the Ozarks and following our local sports teams.
John Bickimer, Field Superintendent
John received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Marquette and an MBA at Jacksonville University. During this time John held a number of diverse jobs, including work as a caddy, paint salesman and bookkeeper while pursuing a love of travel that took him from Milwaukee to Australia and many points in between. In 2012, John moved back home to Kansas City to work as an auditor for a local accounting firm and obtained his CPA in 2013. A man with a strong work ethic and a unique set of diverse job skills, John discovered a passion for new home construction, and in 2014 joined Bickimer Homes as a field superintendent.
Jon Murray, Field Superintendent
Jon grew up in Lawrence, KS and has spent his entire career in the construction industry, notably spending the last 15 years as a carpenter and a cabinetmaker in residential and commercial construction. Before joining the Bickimer team of superintendents, Jon kept busy doing custom woodworking in Lawrence while obtaining his project management certification from Villanova University. Outside of the construction world, Jon enjoys the daily excitement and joys of first-time fatherhood, and cheering on the Jayhawks and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoys vacationing in the outdoors with his wife Lindsay in the National Park System.
Scott Brazer, Field Superintendent
Scott Brazer is a third generation builder with over 20 years of residential building experience. Scott started building with his father in New Jersey, and Savannah Georgia before moving to Kansas with his wife in 2010. In addition to home building, Scott loves spending time with his family and enjoys music.
Kristen Kanatzar, Office Manager
Kristen Kanatzar attended Kansas State University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education. After graduating from KSU, Kristen worked for the Olathe School District as an ESL specialist. After teaching for several years, she joined our team and is responsible for the office operations.
Heather Swanson, Website & Social Media Coordinator
Heather joined the Bickimer team in 2016 providing marketing support and assisting with office operations when needed. In addition to this role she is a wife, mom to 5 and practices as a Registered Nurse in Kansas City. Growing up in Johnson County, KS with a connection to the homebuilding industry Heather has discovered her enthusiasm for beautiful homes extends to the principles Bickimer Homes exemplifies. Heather and her family stay busy playing youth sports, traveling and cheering on their favorite local sports teams.
Ashley Darner, Assistant Office Manager
