What is the HERS index?
The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is the industry standard by which a home’s energy efficiency is measured. It’s also the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance. We use this nationally recognized system on all of our new homes in Johnson County, KS.
In 2017, there were 227,840 homes in the United States that were HERS rated and issued a HERS Index Score. The average HERS Index of these homes was 62.
This broke the record for the number of homes HERS rated in a year. In 2017, there were 21,257 more homes HERS rated than in 2016.
